Disney Princess (commonly known as Neptune Orb's Disney Princess or Chuck McKay's Disney Princess) is an American animated television series produced by Disney Television Animation in association with Neptune Orb Productions. Based on the Disney Princess lineup, the series first premiered on Disney XD on March 11, 2016 and was later moved to Disney Channel on July 7, 2018 during its second season and later ended on September 26, 2020. The series developer of the series is Chuck McKay. The series had been in development for over 11 years.
Sporting a different animation style which uses the same one from most Neptune Orb animated series, Disney Princess serves as a comedic series and explores what the princesses do when they are hanging out in their palace. Many Disney characters make cameo appearances and are referenced in the background. Most of the original principal voice cast returns to reprise their respective roles.
In May 2018, ahead of the premiere of the series' second season, it was announced that the series had been renewed for a third and final season, which premiered on September 28, 2019.

Characters[]
Main[]
- Snow White (voiced by Katherine Von Till) – A young princess whose stepmother has forced her to work as a scullery maid in the castle. Despite this, she retains a cheerful but naïve demeanour.
- Cinderella (voiced by Jennifer Hale) – A scullery maid who is left in the unfortunate care of her cruel stepmother and jealous stepsisters in the wake of her father's untimely demise. They constantly mistreat her, forcing Cinderella to work as a scullery maid in her own home. When Prince Charming holds a ball, the evil stepmother does not allow her to go. Cinderella, aided by her kind Fairy Godmother and equipped with a beautiful silver gown and a unique pair of glass slippers, attends, only to have to leave at midnight when the Fairy Godmother's spell is broken.
- Aurora (voiced by Kate Higgins) – The only child of King Stefan and Queen Leah. An evil fairy named Maleficent seeks revenge for not being invited to Aurora's christening and curses the newborn princess, foretelling that she will die before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday by pricking her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel. Determined to prevent this, three good fairies raise Aurora as a peasant in order to protect her, patiently awaiting her sixteenth birthday — the day the spell can only be broken by a kiss from her true love, Prince Phillip.
- Ariel (voiced by Jodi Benson) – The seventh and youngest daughter of King Triton and Queen Athena, rulers of the undersea kingdom of Atlantica. Ariel lived through much of her young life with a passionate - yet forbidden - admiration of the human world, and longed to someday experience life on the surface.
- Belle (voiced by Julie Nathanson) – A bibliophilic young woman who is the non-conforming daughter of an inventor who yearns to abandon her predictable village life in return for adventure. When her father Maurice is imprisoned by a cold-hearted beast, Belle offers him her own freedom in exchange for her father's, and eventually learns to love the Beast despite his unsightly outward appearance.
- Jasmine (voiced by Linda Larkin) – The spirited Princess of Agrabah, who has grown weary of her life of palace confinement. Despite an age-old law stipulating that the princess must marry a prince in time for her upcoming birthday, Jasmine is instead determined to marry someone she loves for who he is as opposed to what he owns.
- Pocahontas (voiced by Irene Bedard) – The daughter of Chief Powhatan. She is a very adventurous person who deliberately disobeys her father's strict prohibition of meeting white males and falls in love with Captain John Smith.
- Mulan (voiced by Ming-Na Wen) – The only child of an aging war veteran who disregards both tradition and the law by disguising herself as a man in order to enlist herself in the army in lieu of her feeble father.
- Thumbelina (voiced by Drew Barrymore) - TBA
- Patricia (voiced by Alicia Silverstone) - TBA
- Liana Diamond (voiced by Amber Tamblyn) - TBA
- Joan (voiced by Anna Faris) - TBA
- Tiana (voiced by Anika Noni Rose) – A hardworking waitress who dreams of opening her own restaurant. Tiana finds her progress stalled when she transforms into a frog after desperately kissing a prince who has been turned into one by an evil witch doctor.
- Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore) – A young princess kept unaware of her royal heritage by a vain old woman named Mother Gothel, who raises her in a secluded tower in order to exploit her hair's healing abilities to remain young and beautiful forever.
- Merida (voiced by Kelly Macdonald) – The 16-year-old daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor, who rule their Scottish kingdom. Queen Elinor's traditional expectations that Merida take a husband and become a proper royal lady come into conflict with the single-minded and impetuous Merida's insistence that she controls her own destiny. Merida has greatly perfected her skill in archery, and is one of the most skilled archers in the kingdom. She is also incredibly skilled in spears, sword-fighting and racing across the countryside on Angus, her Clydesdale horse. Despite her outgoing, forceful personality, Merida does have a softness of heart, particularly when it comes to her younger triplet brothers, Harris, Hubert and Hamish. She is pampered but in no way spoiled, and even though she frequently argues with her mother, Merida does love her parents.

Production[]
In 2004, Chuck McKay stated that he was planning to make his next animated series for Disney after Fox Family's Natalie Noir: High School Detective, if he had "enough time" to do it.
Ahead of the season one finale of Natalie Noir: High School Detective in June 2005, McKay announced that his production company Neptune Orb Productions and Walt Disney Television Animation began development on a TV project based on the Disney Princess brand which would start production on 13 proposed episodes in early 2006, although nothing was confirmed on what the series would be about. However, the project was put on hold for a few years due to "creative difficulties" with some of the writers.
In June 2012, Disney and Neptune Orb announced that the Disney Princess TV project was back in development as a partnership to produce a TV series pilot and several shorts. The following year, it was announced that the series would take on a different direction, meaning that it would be a departure from the main Disney Princess franchise. According to McKay, the series came about as a desire to appeal more to older female audiences, and it runs parallel with the main Disney Princess line.
In November 2014, it was announced that 20 animated episodes would be made by Disney and Neptune Orb. In the United States, the series premiered on Disney XD on March 11, 2016. On Feburary 17, 2016, it was announced that the series had been renewed for a second season ahead of the series premiere. On May 20, 2018, it was announced that the second season would premiere on July 7, 2018 on Disney Channel, and that the series had also been renewed for a third season.
